Azzedine Alaïa launched his Parisian maison, Alaïa, in 1979, offering intricate designs synonymous with effortless poise and elegance. Trained as a sculptor and later as a couturier by Christian Dior, the prolific designer garnered status as “the king of cling,” a reference to his bodycon designs, which celebrate the female form. In 2021, the maison appointed its first creative director, Pieter Mulier—a long-time collaborator of Raf Simons. Mulier honors Azzedine Alaïa’s intuitive masterful approach and his maison’s revered, rich history with sophisticated silhouettes and a fresh modern take on classic designs. Celebrated styles such as the house’s signature sculpted dresses are rounded off with perforated calfskin bags, laser-cut leather footwear, corset belts, and glossy acetate cat-eye sunglasses.
