Since its serendipitous birth in a former wood-panelled wine cellar in 2002, where co-founders Karl-Oskar Olsen and Brian SS Jensen began selling handcrafted t-shirts, Wood Wood has captained much of Copenhagen’s contemporary fashion movement. Drawing from the Danish capital’s cutting-edge approach to design and ever changing subcultural fabric, Wood Wood finds its footing in the rebellious and the loud. Skateboard culture, graffiti, and mid to late 90s hip hop music all find their way into the label’s carefully fashioned offering. Not relegated to a single type of product, Wood Wood invites customers to partake in a full-fledged lifestyle by subverting everything from notebooks to water bottles, camping goods to perfume. Prolifically collaborative, Wood Wood has worked with over 50 different companies, including brands such as Nike, Barbour, and Disney, demonstrating a throughline of irreverence and innovation. No matter the piece, be it a thick cable knit wool sweater or a sleek stainless steel timepiece, Wood Wood facilitates a bridge between the rough and the euphonious—and, as with its name—creates something greater than just the sum of its parts.
